The  DePaul  University  Zen  Society

Weekly Meetings

The Zen Society is a recognized student organization (with guidance from DePaul University Ministry) meeting weekly on the DePaul University Chicago Lincoln Park campus.  Anyone is welcome.  There are no fees or dues.  Our sole purpose is to support each other in the practice of Zen, and to explore how the Zen teachings can positively impact our lives.  We're a friendly and open group, so bring your questions and don't be shy!

Meetings typically begin with one or more periods of zazen (meditation), followed by group discussion.  If you've never meditated before, we'll teach you:  please arrive a few minutes early, since meditation begins promptly at 2:00pm

Our teacher is Meido Moore Roshi, a Zen priest and lineage holder in the Japanese Rinzai tradition.  If you'd like to contact him directly, please go to the "Contact Us" page.

Meeting Time: Wednesday afternoons, 2:00-3:00pm

Location:  At the Student Center:  2250 N. Sheffield (at the corner of Sheffield and Belden).  We meet in the Interfaith Sacred Space, on the ground floor.

What to Wear/Bring: Loose, comfortable clothing is best (you'll be sitting crosslegged on the floor, so tight pants are not good).  We generally have enough meditation cushions, but bringing your own cushions if owned (or a few pillows) is helpful.

Here is our Flyer:  please help us by downloading, printing and forwarding to anyone you think may be interested!
